How to Consign Overview

No appointment is necessary.

We accept consignments on a drop-and-run basis anytime we are open, however, since Friday and Saturday are our busiest days, you will have a quicker drop off on Monday through Thursday.

First, check the Best Sellers and No Thanks list for the kinds of items that we handle versus those we do not accept at all. If some of your items are listed on the “No Thanks” list, consider making a charitable donation.

Then, take a good long look at each item and ask yourself, “Why do I want to consign this item.”

If the answer is:
  • It will never fit me again

  • It's just not my color

  • My lifestyle has changed and I’ll never wear it again

  • I’ve had it for a while and the tags are still on it

  • It was an impulse buy and just isn’t "me’’

You’re on the right track!

Keep going!

  • It’s stained

  • It’s more than 3 years old

  • It’s worn out, faded, or “limp” looking

  • It needs repair

  • It looks dated or out of style

  • It wasn’t very good quality to start with

  • I just want this old junk out of my closet

STOP!!!!

Shoppers would feel the same way you do and it’s unlikely Western Wear Exchange will accept them.

You might consider making a charitable donation of these garments.

PREPARING YOUR CONSIGNMENT

Clean, well pressed, and fragrance free sells the best! The cleanliness and appearance of your items is crucial. All garments must be freshly dry cleaned or laundered, fragrance free, ironed and on hangers.

We understand that dry cleaning is costly. To avoid unnecessary expense, we urge you to check each garment in bright daylight for:

  • Soil/stains especially around collars, cuffs, underarms, and in crotch areas
  • Missing/loose buttons and broken zippers
  • Torn/stained linings
  • Faded or uneven colors

If you see ANYTHING that you are not willing to correct --STOP! Again, making a charitable donation of those garments might be appropriate.

*We only accept items that are:

  1. Western (items originally purchased at a western store)
  2. CLEAN (must have been freshly laundered or dry cleaned).
  3. Wrinkle free.
  4. Free from animal hair.
  5. Currently in style (usually less than three years old).
  6. In extremely good condition (no fading, no stains, no buttons missing, etc.).
  7. Odor free (smoke, cologne, musty storage smell).

Next, make sure:

  1. Each clothing item is hung neatly on a hanger.
  2. Boots are polished and the edges dressed.

*Most common reasons that items are not accepted:

  1. They have stains.
  2. They are faded.
  3. They are out of style.
  4. They have not been laundered.
  5. They have not been ironed.
  6. They have odors.
  7. They are not western brands.
